Chinese New Year

There's a programme of events in Lichfield and Burntwood to celebrate Chinese New Year. With Tai Chi and other Martial Arts, Chinese Calligraphy, Dance, Opera, a New Year Story and traditional Lion Dance. Local Lichfield storyteller, Christine Genders presents The Darker Side of Love  at Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum. Listen to a set of traditional stories that don’t end “happily ever after”: a storytelling antidote to Valentine's Day romance and red roses. 

 

Rules for Living

Lichfield Players present Rules for Living by Sam Holcroft at the Garrick Theatre. Carrie’s worried that her new boyfriend’s family doesn’t like her. Matthew is worried too, but he’s just as worried about how obvious it is that he fancies his sister-in-law, Sheena. Sheena needs a drink to help her cope with her angst-ridden teenage daughter. The rest of the family have their own problems, watch as it all unravels.

 

An Evening with Peggy Knight

In 1944 a young short hand typist from North London was parachuted into Nazi occupied France. Peggy Knight was a member of Special Operations Executive (SOE) and had only received two weeks training and one practice parachute jump. Hear her courageous, breathtaking story through the voice of historian Lesley Smith at the Tudor of Lichfield.
